Literacy in Renwick 3

In Renwick 3 the majority of our morning is spent engaging in literacy activities.
After we have greeted eachother at 9 o'clock we take turns to share any news we have. We each have a specific day to share news. Some children bring special items from home to talk about which we really enjoy. However these items stay in our bags or in Neroli's office for the rest of the day.
When we have finished sharing our news we like to get our bodies and brains moving. This week we have been dancing and singing to 'Walking on Sunshine'. This helps us get our brains in gear to help Neroli read a big book. Sometimes she needs help to remember what commas and fullstops are for so we have to remind her!
It is then time for reading. Have a look at some of the fun activities we do to help us learn to read.

After morning tea we read from our boxes.

Play dough is always a favourite!

Some friends join us from Renwick 2 for reading too!

We love to share our learning with each other.

Hi Renwick 3!
It is great to read about your class on the internet and look at the cool class photos.
Especially your reading groups sound like fun!
Keep up the good work and remeber to remind Neroli about commas and full stops!
We will keep looking for more news from your class and are looking forward to read about the cool things you do at school and see more photos.
Greetings from Mika's parents Ira and Stefan

Hi

It's great that Renwick 3 is on the internet! I am going to let my friends and family in China and Melany's cousin in UK know about it. It's an excellent way to keep them posted about Melany. Thanks for the photos as well. Good work.

Hi Renwick 3 from Hayden's mum. Wow, how cool you have a blog site. I can see from the photographs that Neroli has the best behaved class in Nelson! All those busy minds hard at work with your reading, play dough and letter of the week. I have heard that your library visits on Monday are a particular treat! I hope you have a great trip to the Suter Art Gallery on Tuesday and I look forward to visiting your blog again in the future.
